Dally Makes Team Canada

Laura Dally is no stranger to national competition, as her basketball career has taken her all over the world.

She can add Buenos Aires, Argentina to the list, as she's been named to the Canadian squad for the 2017 FIBA Women's AmeriCup.

The tryouts have been a bit of a process for Dally, who traveled to France, Spain and China during the first two phases of the evaluation camp.

This is Dally’s second summer training with the senior national team in Edmonton, and says she jumps at any opportunity to represent her country.

Chatham's Bridget Carleton also made the team, Dally says it's nice to have a familiar face to share the experience with. Dally also had history with Head Coach Lisa Thomaidis, who coached her to a national championship with the University of Saskatchewan in 2016.

The Northern Collegiate plans to head back to Rotenburg, Germany in the fall, where she'll play her second season of professional basketball with the BG '89 Avides Hurricanes.

Canada opens the FIBA AmeriCup on August 6th against Cuba.

The top three teams from the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2017 will qualify for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018 in Spain. Canada's Senior Women's National team is currently ranked 2nd in the Americas and 6th in the world by FIBA.
