Former Sting Assistant Named Head Coach Of Generals

Former Sarnia Sting assistant coach Greg Walters has been named head coach of the OHL Oshawa Generals.

Walters was an assistant behind the Sting bench for eight years before becoming head coach of the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

He led the Raiders to their first league title in 2017 and was named league coach of the year for the second time.

Walters served under three head coaches as an assistant and associate with the Sting from 2002-2003 to 2009-2010.

In an Oshawa Generals news release, Walters says he's honoured to be named head coach of the team.

"I am grateful and very excited to be joining such a historic franchise such as the Oshawa Generals,” said Walters. "“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and getting things started here with this city, team and fans. I can’t wait to meet the players and start the process of bringing another Championship back to Oshawa.”

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
