High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A local axe thrower continues to make his mark in the axe throwing world.
Petrolia-native <a href="https://blackburnnews.com/sarnia/sarnia-news/2017/06/21/local-axe-throwers-setting-bar/">Brett Dewhirst</a> won the pro knife and pro axe events during the IKTHOF World Championships in Austin, Texas over the weekend.
His axe score was the second highest ever recorded, and Dewhirst is now a master thrower in both knife and axe.
The 23-year-old also won the long distance knife with a 58 foot throw.
Dewhirst, the top thrower at Sarnia's <a href="https://blackburnnews.com/sarnia/sarnia-news/2018/07/16/valley-axe-leading-edge-competition/">Valley Axe</a>, is a top five knife and axe thrower in the world and is one of only 13 master throwers in knife.
