Sarnia axe thrower dominates world championships

A local axe thrower continues to make his mark in the axe throwing world.

Petrolia-native Brett Dewhirst won the pro knife and pro axe events during the IKTHOF World Championships in Austin, Texas over the weekend.

His axe score was the second highest ever recorded, and Dewhirst is now a master thrower in both knife and axe.

The 23-year-old also won the long distance knife with a 58 foot throw.

Dewhirst, the top thrower at Sarnia's Valley Axe, is a top five knife and axe thrower in the world and is one of only 13 master throwers in knife.
