Braves finish second in Lakeside baseball tournament

The Sarnia Braves lost 4-1 to the Tecumseh Thunder in the final of the Lakeside AAA Invitational Tournament over the weekend.

The Braves went 4-1-1 over the three-day event after they won the Port Lambton tournament a few weeks ago.

In the semi-final, the Braves downed Milton 10-2. Vince Cashera had three hits and a pair of RBI, while Alex McLean drove in two.

Mike Damchuk tossed a complete game four-hitter in Sarnia's 3-2 victory over Ilderton, Cashera hit a grand slam in the Braves' 10-10 tie against Etobicoke.

Nick Baljeu had a complete game one-hitter in the Braves' 2-1 victory against Thornhill. Wade Babula struck out six in a complete game three-hitter in the Braves' 6-2 victory against the Michigan Braves.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
