Sarnia Golf Senior Men's Invitational ends in playoff

The 2019 Sarnia Golf & Curling Club Senior Men's Invitational saw Paul Landers of The Oaks in Delaware come away as the overall low gross champion.

Landers sunk a birdie on the first hole of a playoff to shoot a 1-under par round of 71.

The annual event, held Thursday, had a total of 128 golfers from across southern Ontario and Eastern Michigan take part. Local members Glen Wright and John Thrasher each won their respective flights -- Wright, in the 65 to 69 age group, and Thrasher, in the 70 to 74 age group, both shot a 76.

Brian Matthews of Glencairn Golf Club in Halton Hills was the overall low net champion with a net-score of 65.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
