Knights outgun Sting in OHL preseason opener

The Sarnia Sting opened the OHL preseason schedule with a 5-2 loss in London Friday.

The Knights led 2-0 after the first period on goals from Billy Moskal and Paul Cotter.

Two minutes into the second period the Sting's Nolan Dann made it 2-1 before Jonathon Gruden put the Knights up 3-1.

Still in the second Sarnia's Brayden Guy cut the lead to 3-2 with Jacob Perreault and Eric Hjorth picking up assists.

Matvey Guskov replied for London late in the period.

The Knights' Hunter Skinner scored the lone goal, an empty-netter, in the third period.

Despite the loss Sarnia goaltender Cameron Lamour was outstanding turning aside 40 of 44 shots.

London goalie Jordan Kooy stpped 12 of Sarnia's 14 shots.

The two teams face off Saturday night in Sarnia at 7:00 p.m.

In other action Peterborough downed Saginaw 8-5. Kitchener edged North Bay 6-5. Mississuaga blanked Guelph 4-0. Barrie clipped Niagara 3-2 and Oshawa beat Kingston 5-4.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
