Legionnaires defeat Strathroy with third period comeback

The Sarnia Legionnaires (2-4-0-1) scored three third period goals as they came back to beat the visiting Strathroy Rockets (3-2-1-1) 3-2 in GOJHL hockey action Thursday.

Strathroy opened the scoring 15:10 into the first period on a powerplay goal by Jordan D'Intino.

Carson Perry scored another powerplay marker early in the second to make it 2-0.

The Legionnaires stormed back in the third. Joseph Ferrera scored a powerplay goal at 12:27.

Carson Peer and Brad Slegers then scored 50 seconds apart to give Sarnia the 3-2 lead and seal the win. Nolan DeGurse dished out two assists in his first game since being sent down from the Sarnia Sting.

Legionnaires goalie Jakob Knowles stopped 31 of 33 shots, while Strathroy's Zion Miceli turned aside 39 of 42 shots.

The Legionnaires host the St. Marys Lincolns next Thursday night.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
