Rapids Swim Team makes big splash in Guelph

A group of Sarnia swimmers blew the competition out the water at a recent swim meet in Guelph.

The Sarnia Rapids Swim Team picked up a total of 27 medals, five gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze, at the No Pain, No Gain event at the University of Guelph in October.

The 19 Rapids swimmers were led by Alli Girardi, 10, with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, Jack Girardi, 14, with one gold, one silver and two bronze, Daisy Jenkins, 13, with one gold and one silver, Kayla Marshall, 16, with three silver medals, and Natalie Pretty, 10, with two gold and one silver.

Next up for the Rapids is the Nothers Fall Invitational meet November 22 to 24 in London.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
