Sarnia's De Carolis re-signs in Halifax

A Sarnia born soccer player has re-signed with the Halifax Wanderers for the 2020 Canadian Premier League season.

Alex De Carolis, 27, made 17 appearances for the Wanderers in 2019, including matches in the Canadian Championships against Vaughn and Ottawa.

The left-footed defender signed on with Halifax earlier this year, ahead of the inaugural CPL season.

De Carolis was born and raised in Sarnia, playing for the Bluewater Soccer Club and Sarnia Fury during that time.

The CPL, founded in May 2017, is made up of seven teams across Canada. The Wanderers finished seventh in fall competition with a record of 3-8-7, and fourth in spring competition with a record of 3-2-5.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
