Legionnaires beat Lincolns to end losing streak

The Sarnia Legionnaires snapped a five game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the visiting St. Marys Lincolns in GOJHL hockey action Thursday.

Nolan DeGurse, Joe Ferrera, and Josh Barraclough each had a goal and an assist.

Jon Sanderson, and Drayton Todoroff also scored, while Bryar Dittmer, and Ryan Barwitzski dished out two assists each.

The Legionnaires led the game 1-0 after the first period but gave up a pair of second period tallies to fall behind 2-1.

Sarnia stormed back with two goals early in the third to pull back ahead 3-2.

St. Marys tied the game 3-3 before Barraclough sealed the win with under three minutes remaining.

Todoroff's first GOJHL goal came with the empty net to cap Sarnia's 5-3 victory.

Nolan DeKoning made 29 saves in the Sarnia net, and Kyle Curtin turned aside 24 shots for St. Marys.

When Ferrera opened the scoring, fans threw woollies onto the ice in support of charity.

The Legionnaires are back in action on Saturday night against the Leamington Flyers at the Brock St. Barn.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
