Flags set new franchise record for wins

The Mooretown Flags set a new franchise record for wins in a season Saturday night with a 13-6 victory over Wheatley.

It was the hockey club's 29th win of the season, surpassing the previous Flags' record of 28 wins set by the 1973-74 team.

With five games still remaining, the Flags are now just two points away from surpassing the franchise's highest regular season point total of 59, also set by the 1973-74 team.

Mooretown is currently second in the West Stobbs Division, four points behind Lakeshore.

The Flags host Amherstburg Saturday night.

The community of Mooretown is also hoping to score $250,000, and an NHL preseason game, in the 2020 Hockeyville competition.
