Imperial Curling Bonspiel kicks off Thursday

The 91st men's Imperial Curling Bonspiel gets underway on Thursday evening at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club.

Draws are at 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, as well as during the day Friday and Saturday.

The finals are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The field includes 32 men's teams from across Southwestern Ontario, 128 players in total.

Many past champions are once again in the field to compete for the title.

Last year’s Open Division champion team, skipped by Colin Parr, and last year’s Masters Division champion, skipped by Larry McLaren will each be back to defend their titles.

Other past champion skips include Heath McCormick, Don Bourque, Doug Booth, and John Wilson.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
