Sarnia teams shine at Bob Probert Memorial

The only two Sarnia teams competing in the Bob Probert Memorial hockey tournament in Windsor squared off in the Major Novice final.

Team Sarnia Blue defeated Sarnia Teal 8-3 in Sunday's championship contest.

Other clubs taking part in the event included Belle River, Erie, Oakville, Richmond Hill, and Tecumseh.

The Novice division is comprised of kids aged nine and under.

The tournament is named after former NHL tough guy and Windsor native Bob Probert who played with Detroit and Chicago in the 80's and 90's.

He died of a heart attack in 2010 while boating on the St. Clair River.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
