Weir finishes in top-ten in first Champions Tour event of 2021

Sarnia's Mike Weir posted a top-ten finish in his first PGA Tour Champions event of the year.

Weir finished tied for 7th at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hawaii with a 54-hole total of 12-under par, nine shots back of winner Darren Clarke. Weir takes home $65,000.

After turning 50 in May of 2020, the Bright's Grove lefty launched his champions tour career in August at The Ally Challenge. He went on to play 11 events during the year, earning over $565,000, 20th on the money list. He had four top-10 finishes including placing second behind Phil Mickelson at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic in October.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
