OHL to conduct draft lottery for 2021 priority selection

For the first time in league history, the Ontario Hockey League will be conducting a draft lottery to determine the order of this year's priority selection.

The lottery will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 7 p.m., and be livestreamed on the OHL YouTube channel.

OHL teams will have an equal chance of securing the first overall pick, with the order of selection to be determined by a computerized random number generator lottery process.

Unlike past years, the 2021 priority selection will see member teams select in a serpentine arrangement, with the order of selection in the first round being reversed to begin round two and alternating each round thereafter.

The first three rounds of the draft will be on Friday, June 4 beginning at 7 p.m., while rounds four through 15 will be conducted on Saturday, June 5 at 9 a.m.

The Sting had the third overall choice in 2020, and selected Max Namestnikov.
