Sarnia 18U ball club falls in final of Ontario Championship

Sarnia's 18U baseball club came up just short at the Premier Baseball League of Ontario Championship over the weekend.

Sarnia squared off against the Tecumseh Thunder 18U Sunday afternoon from Blackwell Park, and lost the game by a 5-0 score.

The ball club, formerly known as the Braves, entered the final with a record of four wins and zero losses, scoring 32 runs and giving up 12 runs in the process.   Sarnia edged the Sudbury Voyageurs 3-2 in extra innings to advance to the final.

The tournament went from Friday to Sunday at Errol Russell and Blackwell parks, and featured eight teams.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
