The Sarnia Oil-Chemical Bonspiel makes its return this weekend, after a two year hiatus.
The 48th annual event will be held at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club from February 10 to 12.
It will feature a 32 team field, comprised of workers in the oil chemical and energy production industry. That includes contractors and suppliers that provide at least 60 per cent of their time toward the sector.
Event Chairperson Ole Kihle said it's an open bonspiel.
"Both men and women of all calibres are invited to attend," said Kihle. "We have eight events which means that depending on your calibre of play you could win the first event, which will be very competitive, or you could be the champion of the eighth event which is still great for prizes and gives you a sense of accomplishment as well."
Kihle said it's great for those employees to come together and network with one another.
"We're really encouraged to see that there's been a pent-up demand to come back and have a normal social life with sports and so forth," he said. "The 32 team field represents a full bonspiel, and we have over 60 company sponsors coming back as well."
Draws are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, as well as 8:45 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, games will take place at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., with the finals set for 2:15 p.m.
Spectators are welcome to attend throughout the weekend.
