Sting fall to Spirit 2-1

After a strong start to the 2023-24 regular season, the Sarnia Sting got a reminder Saturday on what it's like to lose.

The Saginaw Spirit scored twice in the contest in front of 4,866 fans, holding the Sting to just one goal and starting the first weekend of the season at 1-1.

Saginaw opened the scoring at 9:38 in the second period with a goal from Joey Willis.

Jacob Cloutier got a goal on the board next at 11:52 in the second period, scoring his first OHL goal and what would eventually become the game winner.

Sarnia came back just a few minutes later, with Tyson Soucette scoring the Sting's only goal with assists by Sean Doherty and Roman Kukumberg.
