Sting edge Petes in shootout win

The Sarnia Sting got by the Peterborough Petes 2-1 in a shootout Thursday night in their only regular season stop at Memorial Centre.

Tommy Purdeller opened the scoring in regulation for Peterborough (8-2-3-1).

Zach Filak scored the game-tying goal in the second period for Sarnia (9-8-0), his 10th of the campaign.

The game would be decided in a shootout after a scoreless overtime.

Marko Sikic and Zack Filak both hit the back of the net in the shootout for the win.

Goalie Nick Surzycia made 29 saves in the net.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
