New-look Sting defeat Firebirds 6-2

It took a while to get going Saturday night, but Sarnia's new-look roster took the win, 6-2, over the Flint Firebirds.

Rookie forward Carter Kostuch opened up the scoring just over two minutes into the second period. That was quickly followed up with goals from Kai Schwindt and Tyson Doucette.

Flint's Nathan Aspinall closed out the period with his 13th goal of the season.

Oliver Peer scored the Firebirds' second of two goals in the third period, with his 26th goal of the season.

Schwindt netted his second goal of the game; Daylen Moses and Cooper Way also scored for Sarnia in the third.

Schwindt had three points Saturday, with two goals and an assist. Way had one goal and one assist. Forward Marko Sikic also had a multi-point night, with two assists.

Despite the lopsided score, Flint outshot Sarnia 32-26.

The Sting visit the Guelph Storm next on January 26.
