Canada earned its sixth medal of the Paris Olympics on Tuesday, winning silver in women’s rugby sevens.
The Canadians were massive underdogs heading into the semifinals against Australia, but pulled off the upset 21-12.
However, Canada wasn't able to replicate that magic in the gold medal game. Despite holding a 12-7 lead at the break, New Zealand rallied back for its second straight gold, winning 19-12.
Silver is the best-ever finish for Canada's women in the relatively new Olympic sport. Canada had previously won a bronze in the 2016 Games, the first time Rugby Sevens was introduced at the Olympics.
