Sting lose to Memorial Cup champion in shootout

The Sarnia Sting were defeated by the Saginaw Spirit at home 5-4 on Friday night.

Saginaw's Michael Misa opened the scoring six minutes into the first period. Sarnia followed six minutes later with a goal by Carter Kostuch tying up the game.

The Spirit then quickly got their second goal two minutes into the second period.

The Sting then got three goals in the second period. Beckham Edwards started the scoring in the period.

Tyson Doucette then followed it up with another goal two minutes later with the final goal being done by Lukas Fischer.

Late in the third period, the Spirit's Ethan Hay and Calem Mangone made a goal each tying up the game and bringing it to overtime.

There was no goal during overtime which led to a shootout, which was won by Saginaw's Zayne Parekh.

The Sting travel to Flint Saturday to take on the Firebirds. Game time is at 7 p.m. CHOK 103.9 FM and 1070 AM. The pre-game show starts at 6:30 p.m.

E-bike ride sharing pilot project to launch in Sarnia
