Sting lose in shootout to Petes

The Sarnia Sting weren't able to beat the OHL's worst team.

They hosted the Peterborough Petes on Saturday and lost 3-2 in a shootout.

The only goal in the first period came from the Sting's Alessandro Di Iorio. Mitch Young and Easton Wainwright with the assists on Di Iorio's 9th goal.

It took Peterborough under four minutes into the second period to grab the lead thanks to back-to-back goals from Francis Parish.

Fast forward to the third period as Young scored his 6th goal from Daylen Moses to tie the game.

Neither team were able to score during the rest of regulation and overtime, meaning a shootout would be needed to find a winner.

Di Iorio and Tyson Doucette scored in the shootout for the Sting, however, it wasn't enough as Peterborough scored three times.

With the loss, Sarnia sees its record drop to 18-22-3-7, while Peterborough moves to 14-30-2-5.

The Sting's next game is on Wednesday, February 12, at home against the Guelph Storm.
