Sting lose low scoring game to Sault Ste. Marie

A bad second period cost the Sarnia Sting against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

The Sting hosted the Greyhounds on Saturday and, despite opening the scoring, lost 3-1.

Neither team were able to score in the first period, combining for 18 shots.

The Sting's Alessandro Di Iorio got his 10th goal early in the second period. Getting the assists were Matthew Manza and Ryan Brown.

Sault Ste. Marie rallied for three straight goals later in the period. In a nearly three minute span, Marco Mignosa would score twice with Brady R Smith adding a goal of his own.

Just like the first period, neither team would score in the third period.

Sting goalie Nick Surzycia made 22 saves in the loss.

With the loss, Sarnia's record drops to 18-24-4-7, while Sault Ste. Marie moves to 21-31-1-1.

The Sting's next game is on Monday, February 17, at home against the Saginaw Spirit. You can catch the action live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
