Sting lose big to Flint

The Sarnia Sting were no match for the Flint Firebirds.

The two teams faced-off south of the border on Saturday with Flint winning 6-2.

Getting the only goal in the first period was Flint's Sam McCue.

The second period was dominated by Flint as the team scored four goals. Alex Kostov and Karlis Flugins scored the first two of the period before McCue added two more to complete the hat-trick.

Christopher Thibodeau extended Flint's lead early in the third period.

Daylen Moses helped the Sting avoid the shutout with his 9th of the season. Lukas Fischer Beckham Edwards with the assists.

Liam Beamish added a second goal for the Sting late in the game. His 14th goal was helped by Casey Bridgewater and Mitch Young.

With the win, Sarnia's record improves to 21-27-5-7, while Flint moves to 27-29-2-3.

The Sting's next game is on Sunday, March 9, at home against the London Knights.
