Assumption Church Closure Not Final (VIDEO)

It was made very clear to the nearly 600 parishioners on Sunday that this wasn't the final service at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Parish.

After not being able to obtain the $15-million needed for dire repairs, Bishop Ronald Fabbro says there's still hope.

Fabbro says he's in discussions with a donor who may be willing to come forward with the funds. "We're not closing this church. In fact, we're still hoping that we'll be able to do the renovations and return to this church," says Fabbro. "I know a lot of the people are praying really hard that we will be able to do that."

After coming to this parish for 12 years, John Doig says he feels angry about how things have unraveled. "It's the same old London-Windsor thing. If this parish was in London, he would be busting his buns to keep it open, but this is Windsor," says Doig. "I hope there will be enough of an uproar here, enough fight left in the people so we can turn this thing around."

Assumption Church parishioners are being moved to Holy Name of Mary Church until further notice.
