Another Fire On Ottawa Street

Windsor firefighters rushed to put out a second blaze on Ottawa St. this weekend.

The latest fire broke out at 812 Ottawa St. shortly before 2pm Sunday.

Hussein Haidar was working at his electronics shop on the main level when the fire started. "I heard people screaming on the second floor. We went upstairs and there was a lot of black smoke coming out," says Haidar. "We managed to get him out of there by force because he was totally not willing to go. As soon as we got him out of there we started breaking the doors of the next apartments because there was nobody in there, but we just wanted to double check."

Fire Prevention Officer Lee Tome says one person was sent to hospital for smoke inhalation. Tome says an investigator will determine the cause and extent of the damage.

In a separate incident, officials continue to investigate after a fire at 943 Ottawa St. early Saturday morning.
