Business Network Given Kick Start

A local agency, designed to help new businesses get off the ground, is getting a boost of its own from the federal government.

The Windsor Essex County Angel Network is receiving $225,000 in order to establish structure, appoint an executive director and attract new members.

Chair of WECAN Omer Hageniers says "angels" will invest in local companies and mentor young entrepreneurs, creating a thriving business community. "The number that's being talked about is investing in ten firms over the next three years, to the tune of about $250,000."

The angel network started back in March, and has 11 members so far. With this new funding, it's hoping to expand to 30 members over the next three years.
