Returning Gas To Downtown Apartment

Residents at 444 Park St. W in Windsor are hoping to return to heated homes this afternoon.

The City of Windsor says Union Gas shut of its supply to the building yesterday.

Assistant Development Chief Building Official John Revell says it was due to a ventilation issue that hadn't been addressed by the owner after a new boiler was installed. "The city has endeavored to assist here, so we've contacted the owner of the building and we've also spoken with the owner's contractor who's on site today, making those (ventilation) upgrades. They've been in contact with Union Gas to get the gas turned back on."

The goal is to have everything in the 36-unit building back to normal by late afternoon.

In the meantime, Revell says the owner is expected to provide the residents with alternative heating.
