WFCU Names Lakeshore Aquatic Centre

Lakeshore's future aquatic centre now has a name -- the WFCU Community Pools and Splashpad.

It will include multiple pools, a splashpad, tennis courts and 5km walking trail.

Lakeshore Director of Community and Development Services Steve Salmons says the WFCU donated $285,000 for the naming rights of the new building. "It seems to be the right target for the Windsor Family Credit Union, which promotes active living, community life and an active family. It seemed to be a perfect fit for them," says Salmons. "This is going to be over 200,000 sq ft, one of the largest complexes in all of Windsor and Essex County. Certainly the newest and most exciting."

Construction for the $20-million aquatics complex will start in December and take 18 months to complete.
