Mayson Machinery Fire Ruled Accidental

A massive fire at Mayson Machinery in West Windsor started accidentally.

Investigators from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal wrapped up their investigation Wednesday. The final damage estimate is $1.8-million.

The fire, in the 3700-block of Sandwich St., started around 9pm Monday and continued to burn overnight. There were employees inside the building at the time, but everyone escaped safely.

Nearby residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed overnight because of concerns about toxic smoke.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
