Addressing Sock And Underwear Need

Ten local Rotary Clubs are coming together to make a large donation of socks and underwear to the Homeless Coalition of Windsor-Essex County.

It's the second annual Socks and Bottoms event, and it culminates tonight at the Royal Canadian Legion in Walkerville.

Past President of the Rotary Club of Windsor 1918 Janet Kelly says anyone can show up and make a donation, just after 6pm. "One of the organizations last year told me this kind of donation doesn't happen often. They usually have to dip into their cash reserves to buy things like underwear for people who need it. This way they don't have to do that. They can use that money for other things that are needed."

Tonight's donation goes to the Homeless Coalition's Care Share program, which ensures that organizations in the community are stocked with what they need to help the homeless.
