Jump In Multi-Unit Housing Starts

Windsor, like the rest of Canada, saw a jump in construction on multiple unit projects in November.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says ground broke on 49 multiple unit projects in Windsor, compared to just 16 in November 2013. That's an increase of 206%. Overall housing starts increased 10% with construction starting on 101 homes last month, compared to 92 in the same month last year.

Meanwhile, sales increased too.

According to the Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors, sales jumped 12% last month as 373 homes changed hands. Year-to-date figures suggest a slight increase of 0.94%, while the average price of a home in Windsor-Essex increased 5.07% to $187,197 compared to $178,160 in November 2013.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
