Santa Claus Visits Essex Tonight

The Town of Essex hosts the final Christmas parade in the region Saturday.

The Town of Essex Santa Claus Parade gets underway at 6:30pm at Talbot St. S and Fairview Ave. From there, it will travel north along Talbot St. to Maidstone Ave.

Windsor Parade Corporation Executive Director Maggie Durocher says there are about 40 entries in this year's parade including the Rennaissance Marching Band from Detroit, Michigan. It will be the band's first trip to Essex.

The United Church on Talbot St. S is serving hot chocolate, and colour commentary is outside the TDCanadaTrust bank branch on Talbot St. N near Centre St.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
