Windsor Murder Victim Identified

Police have identified the 31-year-old woman who was found murdered in her home on Benjamin Ave. in Windsor.

The Windsor Police Service says early Thursday morning, the body of Cassandra Kaake was discovered by firefighters after a fire was extinguished at a duplex at 1564 Benjamin Ave. Kaake was seven months pregnant when she was killed.

A postmortem examination conducted on Friday has revealed that Kaake died as a result of blood loss, caused by severe trauma to her body. Police believe the perpetrator(s) may have suffered wounds during a struggle.

The homicide is currently being investigated by the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
