City, County Talk Regional Transit

The official first meeting between Windsor's new mayor and the warden of Essex County is now in the books.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and Essex County Warden Tom Bain say the main topic of their 45-minute chat was regional transit.

Starting a pilot project is something Bain says they both want to see. "There was a lot of work done initially, approximately about four years ago," says Bain. "We'll try to go back, get that information, use that study that was done back then and move forward."

They say the pilot project is still years away and hard to estimate how much it may cost.

Bain says it would first involve only Windsor, Lakeshore and possibly Tecumseh. "It could be as simple as getting people to work in the county," says Dilkens. "So look at Patillo Rd. and all the businesses that are on Patillo Rd. So, folks who can't easily get between work, if the want to live in the City of Windsor, it becomes more difficult."
