Man With Machete Arrested At Gunpoint

A man is facing charges after being arrested at gunpoint for allegedly wielding a machete in Windsor.

The Windsor Police Service says on Thursday around 5:30pm, a man carrying a machete demanded a cigarette from another man in the 300-block of Elliott St. W.  The man refused to provide a cigarette and called police.

When officers arrived, the suspect was found in a backyard, still holding the machete. The man refused to drop the weapon and police were forced to draw their firearms. When the suspect finally dropped the machete, he was placed under arrest.

A 39-year-old Windsor man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
