Update: Suspect Charged In Mac's Robbery

A 35-year-old man, charged with robbery and uttering threats, will appear in a Windsor courtroom after a failed attempt to rob a Macs convenience store.

Police say a man walked into the Macs in the 300-block of Mill St. around 5:30pm Sunday and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk. He allegedly threatened the clerk if they called police and indicated he had a gun, although the clerk never saw the weapon.

When several customers walked into the store, the suspect left with nothing.

Watching video surveillance, investigators identified the suspect. They made an arrest around 9pm in the 200-block of Bridge Ave.

Mario Veltri is also charged with failure to comply with the condition of a judicial release and failure to comply with a condition of undertaking.
