OPP Stake Out Schools, Bust Thief

After receiving a complaint from school staff in Leamington about stolen property, Essex County OPP launched a surveillance sting operation.

The Street Crime Unit staked out schools across the region and on January 13, they spotted a man placing boxes into the back of his car at St. Anne's High School in Lakeshore.

A 29-year-old LaSalle man has been charged with two counts of theft over $5,000, one count of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs.

Police are continuing to investigate as they believe other schools across Windsor-Essex have been victimized. Police aren't releasing the suspect's name at this time.
