UPDATE: Corner Store Robbed With Axe

A woman carrying an axe while wearing two white socks on her hands robbed a corner store Thursday night, Windsor police say.

At around 9pm the suspect entered Fred's Variety in the 1600-block of Westminster Ave. She approached the counter with a full-size axe and left with cash and two packages of cigarettes.

With the help of the K-9 unit, police later recovered the axe, two white socks, her jacket and a black toque in the area.

Police say the employee has seen the suspect purchase cat food from the store before. Police are in the process of obtaining video surveillance of the robbery and believe the woman may live in the area.

She is described as white, 30-40 years old, between 5'5" and 5'7" with a medium build and brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
