Alleged Axe-Wielding Robber Arrested

The woman who is accused of robbing a Windsor corner store with an axe has been arrested.

The Windsor Police Service says on Thursday around 9pm, a woman entered Fred’s Variety in the 1600-block of Westminster Blvd. carrying a full-size axe and wearing two white socks on her hands. She left the store with cash and two packages of cigarettes.

The axe, the two white socks, a jacket and a black toque were found in the area by police following the robbery.

Police say officers arrested a female suspect without incident and she is now facing robbery related charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
