Slight Tax Increase In LaSalle

Taxes will be going up 1.55% in LaSalle this year.

It's over half a percent lower than the proposed budget from staff, but maintains the level of service, according to LaSalle Deputy Mayor Marc Bondy. "It's not a big increase on anyone's house. We can lower it, but then we aren't putting any money away in reserves. That's how we built these facilities. If we didn't put money away through prior councils, we wouldn't have the buildings we have today."

The increase means the tax bill for a $200,000 home will go up $28.

Combined with the county and school board levies the increase is expected to drop below 1%.

It includes the start of the reconstruction of Todd Lane from the Herb Gray Pkwy. to the round-a-bout. It also includes a new sewer line along Sprucewood Ave.
