Tecumseh Taking On New Firefighters

The Town of Tecumseh is bolstering its fire department with the addition of two new volunteer firefighters.

After dealing with more than 400 calls and a massive blaze at the Bonduelle food processing plant last year, Chief Doug Pitre is glad to add to the local service. "You have to look at it this way: If I were to bring on two, that gives me a compliment of 40 firefighters. I'm not sure, but I think Windsor only has 50 firefighters on a daily shift basis, so it gives me an adequate number to draw from."

The two firefighters are expected to work out of station number two in Tecumseh, which primarily serves the south end of the town.

The addition is costing Tecumseh roughly $13,000 in salary.
