Amherstburg Budget Process Moving Along

The Town of Amherstburg now knows when it'll get its first look at this year's budget.

Director of Finance Justin Rousseau says Amherstburg Council will be presented with multiple options on February 23.  "We've done a 0% budget increase from last year, a 5% operational decrease and a 10% operational decrease. We quantified that all for council and we'll come forth with a recommendation that we feel is best suited for the taxpayers in the Town of Amherstburg."

Rousseau says the creation of a lifecycle reserve fund will be one key element they'll be trying to sell council and the community on. He believes it could be mid-March before a final draft of the budget is approved.

The town will host three public meetings.
