Girl's Grandpa Inspires Generosity

A 10-year-old girl is donating more than $6,000 to the Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation.

With the help of her family, Lauren Baillargeon put on an event called Kids Curing Cancer last month, in support of her grandfather who'd been battling the disease.

Unfortunately, her grandpa passed away days after the event. "My grandpa, he was an inspiration for me," explains Baillargeon. "He just made me want to do something for the other people here who are going through this."

Over the last two years, the Baillargeon family's raised more than $10,000, which goes into the cancer centre's Patient Assistance Fund. It helps patients with things not covered by health insurance like groceries, travel, or even paying bills that they might not be able to, as they have to take time off work.
