The Town of Essex is sending out a request for proposals, looking for a price to bring down the silos.
Councillor Randy Voakes says having a cost in mind means better planning.
"If we can get that RFP put in, we know in terms of today's dollars where we are with tearing them down in terms of environmental concerns, in terms of whatever it takes to get them torn down and removed; we know that dollar going in to budget," says Voakes.
A mural project was previously considered for the silo district in Essex.
"We can't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on silos, in order to get them ready for painting," says Voakes. "Now we're obviously at the stage of a request for proposals to tear them down."
Essex budget deliberations begin Tuesday.
