A Potential First For Essex

Town of Essex Deputy Mayor Richard Meloche describes this year's budget as very conservative.

Council has gone through its first budget session and come out with a 0% tax increase, but Meloche says there are still small-ticket items that will be debated and could end up being added. "There's a number of items that have to do with arenas, or parking lots, or other streets that we may not move forward with in order to come in at a 0% increase."

If a 0% increase is achieved, Meloche says it'll be a first for the Town of Essex.

Council hopes to finalize the budget at its next session, scheduled for March 9.
