Man Charged For Killing Dog

Police have arrested a Windsor man after they say he severely injured a dog in a local park, causing it to die of its injuries.

The incident happened at 7:20am Wednesday in the area of Somme Ave. and Gladstone Ave., near Optimist Memorial Park.

Windsor police arrived and found the man "straddling" the dog and a large amount of blood on the ground from the animal. The dog was taken to a nearby animal hospital, but after 45 minutes of treatment, the dog succumbed to its injuries. Police say the dog sustained numerous cuts and lacerations to its neck and chest.

The 20-year-old Windsor man has been charged with killing an animal.

Police are continuing to investigate and aren't releasing any further information at this time.
