Close Call For Windsor Driver

The Ontario Provincial Police says a 35-year-old Windsor man is lucky to be alive after driving his vehicle into a water-filled ditch.

Police were called out to Mersea Rd. 2 in Leamington around 9:30pm Monday after the vehicle left the road. The vehicle was partially submerged on the driver's side and filling with water.

The first officer on the scene held the driver's head above the water until two other officers could help him get the man out. He received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries in hospital.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
