Water Run-Off Fills Leamington Ditches

Ditches are high and front yards filling with water in southern Leamington.

The ditches and dykes are controlled by a series of pumps, but Director of Community Services Rob Sharon says one of them broke down. "We have one that needed repair, so we brought a pump in to take care of that problem. We had a plugged tile drain as well that is causing problems."

Excavators started working in the area earlier this week to clear the problem.

Sharon says heavy snow in February with no melting during the winter has caused a lot of water runoff from area farm fields.
